A “work in progress” project.

“In Silence” is more than a photographic series: it is an inner journey and a personal contribution to try to restore its silence and its often forgotten beauty.
Project realized with medium and large format 8×10″ cameras, on traditional plate film. All images are printed using the ancient salted paper technique, the first form of photographic printing on paper, introduced in 1840 by W. Fox Talbot.
I like to think that the energy transmitted by the forest expands beyond the image itself, into the marks left on the paper by silver nitrate, where the warm tone of the prints recalls the color of the earth from which everything originates.
Entering these spaces and sharing their essence is what has driven me, for years, to work on this theme: to show, through images, what we risk losing in its profound silence. The beauty of these places, which we often overlook, is not just landscape: it is memory, breath, future.

Questo progetto è una selezione di un lavoro aperto, in continua evoluzione.
Nasce dal desiderio di dare voce alla natura, che resiste, sopravvive e si rinnova nonostante le pressioni del mondo umano.
Troppo spesso ridotta a semplice sfondo, la natura è invece il vero soggetto. Il nostro sguardo su di essa è ancora limitato: conosciamo poco delle sue dinamiche interne e ancora meno della sua straordinaria capacità di resilienza.
Ho scelto di fotografare luoghi che portano i segni del tempo, come i faggi vetusti del Parco Nazionale d’Abruzzo: giganti silenziosi che da secoli abitano quelle foreste, dove vivono il lupo, l’orso marsicano, la volpe e molte altre specie che ne mantengono l’equilibrio naturale. Le loro forme contorte, plasmate dal tempo e dagli eventi, a volte evocano animali, mostri o figure mitologiche, come se la foresta custodisse un immaginario antico e primordiale.
Entrare in questi spazi e condividerne l’essenza è ciò che mi ha spinto, per anni, a lavorare su questo tema: mostrare, attraverso le immagini, ciò che rischiamo di perdere nel suo profondo silenzio. La bellezza di questi luoghi, che spesso trascuriamo, non è solo paesaggio: è memoria, respiro, futuro.
“In Silence” è più di una serie fotografica: è un percorso interiore e un contributo personale per cercare di restituire il suo silenzio e la sua bellezza spesso dimenticata.
Progetto realizzato con fotocamere di medio e grande formato 8×10″, su pellicole tradizionali a lastre. Tutte le immagini sono stampate con l’antica tecnica della carta al sale, la prima forma di stampa fotografica su carta, presentata nel 1840 da W.Fox Talbot.
Mi piace pensare che l’energia trasmessa dalla foresta si espanda oltre l’immagine stessa, nei segni lasciati sulla carta dal nitrato d’argento, dove il tono caldo delle stampe richiama il colore della terra da cui tutto ha origine.
